The Course Layout

The US Open Golf Championship will take place on two courses at Torrey Pines: North and South. These courses are both considered among the most difficult in professional golf and offer a spectacular view of San Diego’s coastline. The North Course has been home to many major championships over the years, including this year’s US Open as well as the 2008 U.S. Open and 2021 Farmers Insurance Open earlier this season. The South Course has hosted several professional tournaments as well, most recently The Farmers Insurance Open in February of 2021.

Players to Watch

This year’s field for the US Open Golf Championship is filled with some of the best players in golf today. Bryson DeChambeau is one of the favorites heading into this event after winning multiple tournaments this season and becoming one of only four players ever to win a major championship while using a single-length set of clubs. Other players to watch include Rory McIlroy, Dustin Johnson, Justin Thomas, Jon Rahm and Jordan Spieth who all have been playing some great golf throughout 2021 so far and are expected to make deep runs in their pursuit of a U.S. Open title!

Format & Scoring System

The tournament format for this year’s U.S Open will be 72 holes played over four days (June 17-20). Each day consists of 18 holes with an 18 hole cut being made after 36 total holes are completed (Friday). After each round, scores will be posted online for viewers at home following along live with the action on television or streaming services such as ESPN+, CBS All Access or FuboTV! The scoring system for this tournament is stroke play which means that each player’s strokes will be calculated over all four rounds and whoever finishes with the lowest score wins!
